SELECTING A TEMPLATE IN EMAIL BUILDER

Begin By Choosing From A Variety Of Pre-Designed Templates That Can Be Fully Customized To Align With Your Brand's Aesthetics. These Templates Serve As A Foundation For Your Email Design.

Email builder templates take the hard work out of designing beautiful emails. You can build one using our simple drag-and-drop tools, with features like predefined content sections, and the ability to customize textimage, and button styles as needed. They're highly customizable and mobile optimized for all of the major email clients.

Depending on your account's permission settings, you may be able to use, but not create templates. Certain elements in templates may also be locked to prevent editing or deletion.

Choose a starting point

To create a new email builder template, click your profile image at the top right, then select My templates.

Click Create a template, then give your template a name and click Continue to see your options for getting started. There are five to choose from:

  • Start from scratch — This is the "blank slate" option, free from preset styles, layouts or other customizations.
  • Choose a design — This is a library of predesigned emails including placeholder text and images to provide a starting point for your template.
  • Choose from your recent emails — It's a quick way to generate a template from a previous email that includes content sections you use regularly, making it easier to create new campaigns. This option is only available for email builder templates. It isn't available for custom coded email templates.
  • Upload your own HTML — This option is not related to email builder templates. Choose this to upload custom coded email templates.
  • Add your brand — This option allows you to enter your website’s URL to automatically generate simple, on-brand email templates.

Customize your template

Your template customization tools are mostly the same as those found in the email builder, with the exception of email settings, which are used to apply default styles for fonts, font sizes, and various template element colors.

Default styles

While you can set the default styles for a template, and even create predefined sections for people to use, someone who has selected that template for their email still has the freedom to override styles at the content-level.

The following styles can be overridden within a section:

  • Headings 1 - 3
  • Normal text
  • Button color
  • Button text (excluding "Share this email" buttons in the footer)
  • Text link color (excluding header and footer links)

You can use section locking to restrict what a person can edit in a template.

Section locking

If you are on the Premier monthly plan, you can lock sections and content in a template so certain changes can't be made. You can use this feature to provide, for example, a consistently branded call to action, an approved layout, legal text that shouldn't be edited, or background images that shouldn't be changed.

Use a saved template

After you set up an email builder template, it can be used in the email builder to create campaignsjourney emails, and smart transactional emails. When prompted, on the "Choose a template" page, just click My templates to select from your saved templates.
